Girl Power!
Day 3. At last, the weather abated and our team - seven ladies and two token males (Paul & Jason) opened a new trench today. The ladies, Hasel, Christine, Donna, Mili, Emily, Olivia and Philippa made very short shrift of large tree roots in the new trench and shifted a lot of soil down to the subsoil with great determination and aplomb.
The ladies extended our trench of stones and uncovered even more! We hope that the weather will stay dry from now on so that we can make some more progress and clean the stones and hopefully make sense of what we have found. It is clearly 'a something' but what?
It was good fun today and we had three visitors to the site who came along last year - John S and Yasmin B and her 7 year old son, Alex B.
At lunchtime we had another visitor - a small field mouse who had clearly never seen humans before and was wandering around our feet looking for crumbs. It even stopped to be photographed and videoed and Jason filmed it munching on a piece of bread Hasel gave to it.
Thankfully, the ladies will be back to continue with their excellent handiwork tomorrow. Who knows - even our mouse may come and join us for lunch again.
