Pre-Excavation Dig

Today, we carried out a test dig to see how difficult our Community Dig is likely to be. As we can't get heavy machinery in to the site to dig all of the trenches we will have to dig by hand.

The first problem we had to contend with was thick tree roots in the top 6" - 8" of subsoil. As we got through the roots we were into clay!

We managed to dig a small hole to a depth of about 70cm and still did not reach the natural.
